The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
