a multitude of the ancients, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 “They will all be gathered together on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
