A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 neither cool nor good. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 “They will all be gathered together on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
