A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
