Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
