Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 I am bereft of power." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
