Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and no food except pus 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
