Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
