Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
