Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in an exalted garden 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
