Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
