Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
