20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
