Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
