Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
