The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
