The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
