By the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
