Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
