NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
