I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 As a warning unto men, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until death approached us". 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
