No, by the moon! 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning for people -- 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Till death overcame us." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
