Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
