Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning for people -- 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
