▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
