Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
