The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
