Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though they make excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
