In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 And those that strike violently, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 then the criterion (the verses of Koran), separating 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 They will not be able to speak that day, 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 Then We will follow them with the later ones. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 40
