In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 And such fruits as they desire. 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 Till an appointed term, 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 it throws spits as (high as a huge) palace, 32 "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." 33 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 The Day of Judgement. 40
