Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you of a mean water, 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
