The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
