The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
