The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
