The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
