The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
