The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
