The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
