The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
