The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
