The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
