The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
