The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
