The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
