The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
