The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
