The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
