The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
