The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
