The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
